On hard starts

It’s never easy to get started.  That’s because going from zero to one requires a start, a spark. It’s harder to start a spark than continue a fire, but as long as we can start the spark then we can burn the world. Another thing that gets in the way: too much magnesium, too much fuel, not enough striking. We convince ourselves that we need more, more, more. We don’t need more. We need to strike.

Half monkey-mind, half afraid of the truth. The solution to both is to sit down, shut up, and let it all unfold.

We find that the whole thing was a fools errand anyway. Starting should be no harder than seeing.

If you’re having a hard time starting, then take ten steps back, and ask yourself the basic questions.

  • What do I want?
  • Who am I?
  • Why am I here?
  • What’s the point?

I have my answers, and it has made all the difference. I am free to do whatever I want, because I know what I want. Action is as easy as seeing.
